What is the FIA 8856-2000 standard?

This standard determines the requirements of technical performances and the parameters of design of clothing intended to be carried by the practitioners of motor sport. These clothes must have a mass of 180gr / m² minimum and are subjected to many technical tests. To put it simply, your garment is subjected to contact with a flame for a period of 11 seconds. Once the flame is stopped, the garment must not burn or break. Eleven seconds may not seem like enough time, but stop reading this text and count as you imagine yourself trapped in the flames.
